APP GOES ART // ART GOES APP CONTEST 2011

The ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, together with CAS Software AG,  CyberForum e.V. with the partners MFG Baden-Württemberg – Public Innovation Agency for ICT and Media, and GFT Technologies AG are offering the international AppArtAward.

We are currently searching for the best work of art in app format, distinguished by its advanced artistic application and/or as a technically outstanding software solution.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE?

Software developers and artists, as well as all app fans with creative and innovative applications may take part.

PRIZES

The following prize categories are being awarded:

  • Prize for Technical Innovation to the sum of €10000 by the MFG Baden-Württemberg – Public Innovation Agency for ICT and Media
  • Prize for Artistic Innovation to the sum of €10000
  • Junior Prize (<18 years of age) to the sum of €5000 offered by GFT Technologies AG

One of the categories will be awarded only once at least three submissions have been registered. Each participant may apply to only one of the categories. The jury reserves the right to amend allocation to a category, whenever deeming such an amendment expedient.

A selection of the best apps will be presented at the ZKM | Karlsruhe and to a broad public.

PLATFORMS

Submissions for the operating systems iOS and Android will be accepted. Submitted applications must be loadable on a iPhone 4 and/or iPad with an up-to-date software version (iOS 4.2.1), on devices with an Android-Version 2.2 or more recent version.

JURY

A noted international jury chaired by Peter Weibel, Chairman of the ZKM | Karlsruhe, will evaluate the submissions and select the winner.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Interactivity, creativity, design, look & feel, degree of innovation, stability, usability, technical complexity and overall artistic impression (idea, concept, implementation)

PROCEDURE

Online applications may be made from the 7 March, 2011 via APP-ART-AWARD.ORG

The submission deadline is the 15 May, 2011 MEZ

The award ceremony will take place on the 8 July, 2011 at the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe
