In human civilization, wind has inspired mythology, has affected historical events, has extended the reach of transport and war, and has provided a source of energy for mechanical work, electricity and recreation. The wind has driven Sailboats travel through the Earth’s oceans. Balloons use the wind for short trips, and powered flight use it to generate lift and reduce fuel consumption. Areas with wind shear caused by various weather phenomena can cause dangerous situations for aircraft. When winds are strong, trees and structures created by humans may become damaged or destroyed.

How can we use the phenomenon wind as a source of inspiration and use it and integrate it into a design process?

Task: To observe, play and experiment with wind phenomenon with different materials and objects. Photographically document the process and present it in a book free format. BOOK OF THE WIND (minimum 30 pages) Here are some pictures …

This year we had the opportunity of an intensive short summer workshops of Experimental Typography. Every class we did a little typographical intervention (QUICK TYPE) writing a special sentence with different materials. The theme for creating an alphabet (ALPHA TYPE) had to do with Myth and Reality, and finally the students had to make a “real time exam” of  a typographical intervention (FREE TYPE) about Legends of the University.
